Veils - for religion or for fun?

I found a new shop, Austie, offering a couple beautiful head pieces, retro rather than traditional.
One of my favorites, worn by Cynthia on 8/8/08.

Underwater weddings

Star was a rockn roll photographer before, which shows in her adventurous photos. Artful like her underwater shots or edgy like in sending the bride into the kitchen to steal the chef's spoon... Snap. I am curiously awaiting her latest shoot, a wedding I coordinated at the Inn of the Seventh Ray, Nicole and Graham, March 20, 2009.

Downtown Los Angeles Photo Heaven

LA, a melting pot of grunge, dirt and decay, architectural gems and lush green parks, amazing street art and historic splendor - all in all the best back drop for gorgeous people.

Downtown in particular is not chic like Hamburg, wild and fashionable like Milan, historic and haunting like Paris or Lisbon, but Downtown offers edge.
Congratulations on your engagement, Erin and Steve!

Indian Weddings

I had the best experience with Indian food catered by India sweets&spices on Los Feliz Boulevard. We had both, contemporary American and Indian cuisine, and Jodi, the bride was
thriving on all the compliments about the wedding from her new Indian in laws - which of course made me look good as the planner too. After a couple years of wedding coordination in California I learned to appreciate the excellence of my vendors and associates. Luckily I have only a few on the "never again" list.

Indian culture and colors serve as inspiration for many brides in 2009/2010, where the trend goes to vibrancy versus white.

Jo and Ed, who will celebrate their wedding at the Malibu Nature Preserve on May 23, 2009 were inspired by the site of Ed's proposal: a boat on the river Ganges in India and the amazing, in beautiful bowls floating flowers everywhere.

It's an eco story worth telling

Dan and Daniela got married on Sunday, April 5, 2009. 245 guests in a modern villa on Malbu's gorgeous beach, bright blue and burned orange colors with haute green centerpieces and the blue ocean as back drop... The year long process of planning this wedding was adventurous and fun with a journey through pie land and eco friendly flower creations. The joyful path showed in the results - lots of my love got into it. Jaime, the father of the bride was so sweet to include me in his gratitude speech, which was balm for my heart while my feet hurt like hell: we it pulled off to make their guests who were mingling on four different areas: the koi pond yard, the house, the ocean facing deck and the beach, feel like one great party.

The mashed potato Martini bar was a great hit - I had to snag a glass and disappear for three minutes, I love potatoes in all forms and recipes. Dan and Daniela served sustainable fish and gourmet vegetarian dishes - all organic. The musicians were as unique as the decor: Kugelplex played rocky Klezmer, friends performed with chansons and live piano, the DJ's rocked between rap and disco. The only glitch in their organic heaven, was the (delivered) vege - pizza feast at 1:00 a.m.

Our idea to integrate Farolitos worked out amazing, the light is soft, romantic and we figured that having to recycle the little bags is better than boosting electro lighting.

If you like eco don't miss the professional pictures of their story, where "wholesome" became the classy chic of tomorrow. David, Dan's best friend, started his speech with: "Don't worry Dan, I wrote this on recycled paper..." Greg Slick, who came back from a shoot in the Middle East to capture his friends wedding, promised to have his photos ready real soon.

One of Greg's images from his flickr site and coincidentally the inspiration for Daniela's orange accents in her light blue and succulent's green color scheme.

DIY is inherently green

Stacey and Ian were married on March 27 and had months of fun preparing their wedding. Family and friends created artful Origami decor and favors. What are a thousand hours? It's for a wedding where togetherness is a theme after all - and also great therapy.

Place cards with made to stand up with corks.

Guests loved their handmade shopping bags from sustainable fibers and loved to takes the hand polished branches with Origami flowers and pearls home.

Without the home grown hippie feel DIY is certainly a trend - or at least the looks of it.
