Eco rocks Hollywood's green couples
Rebecca and Harry got married in December of 2008 at the Chateau Marmont in Hollywood with a reception following next day at Mountain Mermaid in Topanga. In the meantime the charismatic duo has already vamped up TV shows (Rebecca, 90210), toured the US with a new theater production (Harry) and I have done a dozen amazing weddings, but their unique reception is still in the air.
The amazing letter press posters were treasured give-a-ways.
Angelica Weihs Events teamed up with gourmet caterer Don Kreindler, Curtis' eco concious crew from Classic Party Rentals and Shirvan Design's organic flower creations. We called the center pieces: tradition de-constructed. BBJ had the Burlapp linens, which look like rustic re-claimed coffee bags and would have been a great contrast to the silghtly decadent decor and art deco features of the venue. I had to realize that Burlapp linens are produced for one event and afterwards piled onto a landfill. No re-use? Not for us. We found a very similar but washable solution...
Some of them flattered Rebecca's muses (aka brides maids)
Her cousins wrote a quirky song to accompany the theater play Harry wrote for the reception: in lieu of vows or any other traditional ceremony.
The theater play was about a poor lost fisher man, whose boat sinks in the middle of a storm. He lands in Poseidon's kingdom and falls madly in love with the resistant king's daughter.
The comedia dell arte's happy end is of course the neverending love of princess and the man, who is not lost no more.
The Mermaid mansion with its amazing ball room and beautiful gardens, pool and koi pond, is a haven for creative, arty couples with a sense for the unusual and fascinating, yet edgy history of this house, which, in its wilder days, had seen gambling, illegal alcohol and easy ladies.
The glam of the 30ties and 40ties was all around us.
The dynamic party went overtime again and again...
The amazing team of Docuvitae captured the creative flair of this beautiful power couple in a way that sparks still fly.
